Is The Yakima Space Cadet Compatible With Yakima SKS Lock Cores?

Question:

I have a mid 2000s Yakima Space Cadet box with dual locking mechanisms. I have keys for it but would love to convert it to the same SKS locks as all my other Yakima stuff. Can you tell me if its compatible? See pictures below. The second pic shows the lock assembly. In the third pic I was able to remove the lock with the control key that came with the box from the original owner. However, same control key would not go into a newer SKS lock to try replacement. Ive heard horror stories of these older boxes not accepting SKS locks then it being impossible to replace the original after that. Any help would be welcome. Thanks

Yes, your Yakima Space Cadet roof top cargo box is compatible with Yakima's Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores # Y07208. I was able to confirm this information with Yakima. They had not heard of an issue with the control keys but be sure to try the control key included with your new locks as it could be different due to the age of your lock cores.
