Question:

Good morning! We just purchased a 2017 RAM 2500. It came with a 5th wheel prep kit already installed. We are in the process of purchasing a Forest River Rockwood Ultra Lite 2650WS RV. The RV has a Reese Revolution Pin Box Hitch. We would like a sliding hitch with a locking jaw. Can you recommend the best hitch for this set-up?

You actually will not need a sliding hitch with a Reese Revolution pin box, since these pin boxes allow for tight turns without interference. A fixed hitch would be ideal, but if you decide to use a sliding hitch, the hitch must be kept in the tow position at all times (never the turning position). Using the Revolution with a sliding hitch in the turning position can cause clearance issues with your tailgate.

I recommend going with the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs, # C16046. This fixed hitch provides an interlocking 2-jaw system for 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. It is specifically designed for newer Ram trucks with factory-installed towing prep packages.

You will also need a wedge, # C16992, to use this hitch with your Revolution.

The recommended 5th wheel harness for 2017 Ram 2500s with a factory 7-way is # 50-97-410.

Does the Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch for the 2020 Ram 3500 with the factory prep package have any adjustment front to rear. I know the Ram pucks cannot be moved but does the hitch itself have any adjustment front to rear??

The Curt A25 # C16046 has vertical adjustments but cannot be adjusted front to back to help with cab clearance. Do you have an 8 foot bed or is it the shorter 6-1/2 foot bed? If it's a short bed and you're worried about can clearance during turns, a much better option is with the Curt A20 Slider and Adapter Rails # C16022.
