Curt Fifth Wheel Hitch That is Compatible with Sidewinder

Will Item # C16992 Curt A Series Wedge be compatible with my Curt Q24 hitch? Im hoping to solve my clunking issue resulting from using the universal wedge that comes with the Sidewinder.

A Curt Q24 fifth wheel hitch such as # C16245 is not compatible with a Sidewinder and should not be used with one. The reason for this is its spherical axial bearings in the hitch head of the Q24; there is far too much movement in the head unit to be safely compatible with a pin box that rotates. This is also the reason there is no a wedge for the Q Series of hitch.

The best option is really going to be a new fifth wheel hitch. While I know that is not what you expected, it is the safest option, and likely the least expensive as opposed to a new pin box. Since you seem to need a heavy capacity a great option that is compatible with a Sidewinder is the Curt A25 # C16180 which is a fixed fifth wheel hitch that fits industry-standard rails. You would then be able to use Wedge # C16992 and have a great combination with your Sidewinder.

The A25 has the indicator system like the Q24 which lets you know if the trailer is ready to couple, uncouple or tow. IT also has a fully articulating head which eases the coupling process and dual jaws for complete and secure contact with your Sidewinder. The A25 has a 25,000 lb towing capacity and comes with a 10-year warranty.

I have added a link to a video review for you to check out on the A25 and if you have a truck with the factory pucks, let me know and I can find the right model A25 for you.
