Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2018 Honda Odyssey with Hands-Free Liftgate Feature

Question:
are there any hitches that will not interfere with the hands free lift gate for a 2018 Odyssey. I am looking to get a hitch and bike attachment but dont want to lose the ability to swipe my foot under bumper to open the hatch. Thank you.

For your 2018 Honda Odyssey, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98855. This Class III trailer hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle and will provide a 2-inch receiver opening that will work great for hitch-mounted accessories such as bike racks.
After installing the trailer hitch, you will still be able to operate the Hands-Free Liftgate feature on your Odyssey. You will simply need to move your foot away from the center of where the hitch receiver opening is located to activate the sensors. Moving your foot to either side of the hitch receiver will activate the Liftgate without issue. We have confirmed this with Draw-Tite. I have included the installation details for you to check out.
If you do not yet have a bike rack, I recommend looking at the Yakima RidgeBack # Y02458. This is a great hanging-style rack that will transport up to 4 bikes with a total weight of 150 pounds. It features a control lever that lets you to tilt the rack forward for easy rear cargo access and also fold down for storage when not in use. A hitch lock is included to secure the rack to your vehicle and I recommend adding the Cable Lock # Y02466 to secure the bikes to the rack.
