I did some research on your 2012 Edge and according to the owner's manual you can flat-tow the vehicle. You will want to check out the manual on page 232 for the guidelines and restrictions for recreational towing.
There are several items needed when you flat-tow a vehicle. You need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the towed vehicle, and most states require a supplemental brake system.
The base plates I recommend are the Blue Ox # BX2628. I have attached a link to an installation video for these base plates.
The tow bar I recommend is the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380. This tow bar comes with the safety cables included.
For lighting I recommend part # RM-154. This kit splices into the vehicle wiring as shown in the attached video.
For a supplemental brake system I recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Braking System # RM-9400. This is a proportional brake system that senses the braking action in the motorhome and activates the brake pedal on the towed vehicle.
Finally, you want to tow your Edge as level as possible so you will probably need a high-low adapter for your trailer hitch. I have attached a link to the high-low adapters we offer.
I have also attached some links to helpful articles you can check out.
