Where is the Fascia Trimmed to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV
Updated 06/22/2017 | Published 06/21/2017 >
Question:
It was mentioned that some trimming of the bumper fascia would be necessary in the installation. How much and where is this trimming of the bumper fascia done? I not really sure that I like the idea of cutting away part of my car.

The area on the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV that needs to be trimmed is the center, lowest point of the rear fascia that, once trimmed and the hitch installed, won't be visible. The area being trimmed is 3-1/4 inches across and 5 inches deep/tall. I have included a picture from the instructions for Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24956 showing this.
If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks and cargo carriers for you.
