Does Changing the Positions of the B&W Companion Pivot Arms Move the Pin Weight of the Trailer
Updated 05/11/2017 | Published 05/10/2017 >
Question:
If the pivot arms on the companion hitch are angled to the rear of the truck will that change the load of the king pin to the rear of the axel on a F350?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Changing the positioning of the support arms that hold the head of the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300 will shift the pin weight of the trailer. Ideally you will want to keep the king pin centered over the rear axle of the truck or slightly forward of it. Otherwise the weight of the trailer could cause the front of the truck to lift up a little causing visibility issues, steering and braking problems, and headlights that point up.
