Troubleshooting Demco Hijacker AutoSlide Hitch That Will Not Lock with Capture Plate DM6026

Question:

Got capture plate for fifth airborne put on now hitch cant close around pin, take it off it closes but but autoslider does not work as it rides over top of capture brackets. It seems the difference is the width of capture plate with capture plate on wont close and lock without capture plate auto slider does not move back instead rides over top of brackets.

The issue you describe sounds like it could be related to the jaws on your Demco Hijacker, if it is an older unit with E or F labeled on the passenger-side jaw. Some of these jaws were not machined quite enough which caused them to hang up on the king pin.

Demco is great about standing behind their products so in all likelihood you can contact them with your hitch jaw designation and if it an E or F series they will send you out a new jaw.
