Question:
I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler with a rear-mounted spare tire that interferes with my 2-inch trailer hitch. I need a hitch receiver extension to allow me to tow a camper trailer with a dry weight of about 1,200 pounds. What would you recommend?

Expert Reply:
A hitch extender will reduce the weight capacity of your hitch. Instead, I suggest using a long ball mount like # D-26. This ball mount is 12-5/8 inches from the hitch pin hole to the ball hole. If you need longer than that let me know the distance you need and I'll find one that will work. Also, if you need a rise or drop in the ball mount.
This particular ball mount uses a hitch ball with a 1 inch shank like # 40038 for a 2 inch ball or # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.
