Question:
In the description for this item it states that a stabilizing straps should be used when using a bike rack. Can you explain this in more detail. i.e. is the strap to stabilize the bike on the bike carrier or to stabilize the carrier it self to the hitch? Thanks

When using the Curt Trailer Hitches like # C11441, Curt requires a stabilization strap # 18050 to support any load that is non-trailer like a bike rack or cargo carrier. You will find this note in the installation details attached. I've linked a video to the stabilization strap as well as the videos we have made for that product. This strap will attach to your vehicle and to the accessory, not to the hitch. This will stabilize the accessory by adding another point of contact so that the hitch doesn't take all of the force of the additional weight alone.
Curt is the only manufacturer that requires this.
If you'd like a recommendation on a bike rack, let me know as only certain models are confirmed to fit a Class I hitch receiver. I've linked that page to assist. Make sure to read the description for additional restrictions on some models.
