Question:

Cadillac says the towing capacity of the XT5 with the factory tow package, which includes a transmission caller is 3500#. But both the etrailer and the Curt hitches for this vehicle list the towing capacity as 5000# each. My 21foot boat and trailer are about 4000# total weight. Will using the etrailer or Curt void my warranty?

The etrailer Trailer Hitch # e62AR and the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13285 for your 2017 Cadillac XT5 are rated for capacity based only on the hitch, not the vehicle. You will be limited by the vehicle capacity, and not the capacity of the hitch. In this case, using either hitch with that large a trailer weight would void your warranty on the vehicle, but not the individual hitches.
