Does Curt 17200 Sway Control Need to Be Removed To Back Up Trailer
Updated 03/21/2017 | Published 03/20/2017 >
Question:
When backing a trailer, does the Sway Control need to be removed or does the tension lever just need to be turned to the OFF position?
asked by: Weldon K
Helpful Expert Reply:
If using a friction style trailer anti-sway control mechanism such as # 17200 it is necessary to release the tension on the arm, or better yet, disconnect it completely from the sway control balls on the hitch and trailer. For many maneuvers releasing the tension will be enough but for reversing when making sharp turns it is better to disconnect it, to be on the safe side.
