Will p/n 521876-1 fit a mini cooper S? What light kit would you recommend?

If you haven't already check your owner's manual and make sure there aren't any restrictions preventing your 2006 Mini Cooper S from being able to be flat towed.
The Roadmaster Base Plate Kit # 521876-1 will fit your Mini as long as you have a convertible. If you have a hardtop then you'll need the Blue Ox Kit # BX1303.
I suggest the Optronics Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK. These bypass the Mini's wiring completely and will provide a 4-way connector at the front. The lights then mount to the car using magnets.
Some other parts you may need to flat tow the Mini, if you don't already have them, are a tow bar, supplemental braking system, and high-low adapter.
It's easier to connect a tow bar of the same manufacturer with the base plates you use. So with the Roadmaster base plates you can use the popular Falcon 2 # RM-520 or with the Blue Ox the Avail # BX7420. The Avail includes safety cables but with the Roadmaster you can use # RM-643
For a supplemental braking system the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems.
Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.
