For your 2017 Ram 1500, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will give you the connection wire to your motorhome, the 6 way on the front of your 2017 Ram 1500 and the diodes that let you connect to your factory wiring while protecting it from overload or feedback. This will give you a much cleaner connection than the # RM-154 and give you a wired supplemental braking option.
In case you haven't completed your flat tow setup yet, I will give you recommendations for a complete system.
For baseplates, I recommend the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms, # RM-52289-4. This will give you a clean look with the hidden bracket design and no pins or clips are required, just twist and pull. I do recommend using threadlocker like # LT37420 with this installation.
For a tow bar, I recommend the Ram 1500 Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motor Home Mount - 2" Hitch - 10K, # RM-422, along with the Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables - Double Hook - 10,000 lbs - Qty 2, # RM-653, and a lock for your hitch like # e98882.
For a braking system, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This system allows you to install and adjust the braking system once and then you don't need to worry about it again. It tucks away nicely and has an inertia sensor that detects deceleration and signals the system to activate the brake pedal with the proportionate amount of pressure. There is no false braking with this system. The Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-88400, is required for your vehicle.
You most likely will need a hi-low adapter, so I'm attaching an article to help you determine what you need. Let me know if you need any further recommendations.
