Problem With Some Soot When Using Big Red Portable Gas Campfire

Question:

I am getting some soot when using my fire dancer. Is there a way to use a air mixer with it? Any other suggestions?

The Camco Big Red Portable Gas Campfire does not have an adjustment to the air mixture. The fire pit's manufacturer told me that the soot problem is not an air mixture issue but has to do with the amount of additive that propane gas companies use in their gas.

The additives that propane companies add to their gas can cause soot build up in your propane gas accessory.
These additives might differ from gas company to gas company. By changing where you purchase your propane might fix this problem. The amount of the additive in the propane, will determine the amount of soot the your pit could possibly make. However, there is no way to know how much additive gas companies put in their propane. So, buying propane from different sellers might not fix your issue.

You can clean the soot with a soft brush and a little dish soap.
