Is a Roof Mounted Bike Rack Compatible with My Thule Canyon Cargo Basket?

Question:

Hi all, I use a Thule Canyon cargo basket and would like to see if I could attach a bike mount to it - according to Thule CS they do not have something like that. I find that hard to believe. Do you have any recommendations for hardware I can attach to my Thule basket and have the bike up there? Someone mentioned the Yakima Boa Mounts? Looking forward hearing from you,

I reached out to my contact at Thule and they said that they don't have a product designed to fit the Canyon Cargo Basket # TH859XT, however they also said that as long as you didn't alter the basket in any way you won't void any warranty by adding one. They also can't be liable for any malfunction based on you adding something to the cargo basket.

I cannot make a recommendation for you based on that information, but if you choose to still add a bike rack, you may want something like the Let's go Aero 1 Bike Mount Kit, # HCK925 or the Swagman Upright Roof Bike Carrier # S64720. Of course whatever you choose will require a custom install but the hardware may even be somewhat compatible. The Yakima Boa Mounts you mentioned, # Y02065, might be a slightly more difficult system to mount as the mount may be difficult to create a snug fit without using a bar.

If you are looking to put the rack on the round upper tube, the RockyMounts TieRod Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, # RKY1012, or similar would be an easy fit option that is lockable to your rack if used with Lock Cores for RockyMounts Bike Carriers, # RKY0332.
