Why Won't My Locking Knob on My Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV Not Tighten?

Question:

I’ve installed the rack into the receiver but turning the lock knob won’t tighten the rack to fix the wobble. The knob just spins as if it isn’t attached internally to the expansion piece in the receiver. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!!

The first thing you need to do is to make sure that the lock on your Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV is unlocked first. The most common problem is trying to tighten the knob while it is locked. In order to solve this issue, you need to first unlock the lock, tighten the knob, then lock the mechanism.

Understand but can’t get it to unlock to stop it from spinning to tighten down the bar. First time putting it back on the truck this year.

@Bkk For this your best course of action is going to contact Thule directly as it sounds to me the lock handle has become damaged internally. Since the handle is only replaceable as part of the Lower Assembly # TH37MY. They will be able to help you verify if the part is covered under warranty or if there is something else wrong with your rack.
