Video Transcript for RockyMounts Bike Rack Lock Cores Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rockymounts lock core for Rockymount's bike carriers, with a quantity of 2. Part number RKY0332. These Rockymount's lock core deter theft of your Rockymount's bike rack and of your mounted bicycle. They can prevent access to your bikes hardware and they work great for your included cable locks. You can even use them to secure your Rockymount's roof rack and have them all keyed alike. Now, let's go ahead and show you how they install.

To install our locking cores we want to be sure and have our key in the core and then we're going to line up our protruding tab between the two tabs here. We'll put it in, we'll push it all the way in until it's flush. Then we can turn the key and then pull it out. Now, as you can see our lock is all set to use. I'm just going to bring it up, then bring it back down through the frame and then back into itself. Once we've got it in place we'll grab our key and then lock it up.

The switch setter also has a spot for a lock core here at the front so we can protect our hardware. We'll simply just remove the cap here and then we want to pop out that little tab there. You can use a flat bladed screw driver to do so. Just push it out from the other side, just like that. We'll have the key in the lock core, we'll line up our protruding tab between the 2 tabs there.

Push it in place until it is flush, turn it. You'll want to be sure that it's unlocked and then we can replace it and lock it up. As you can see it's locked. That's going to complete our look at the Rockymounts lock core for Rockymount's bike carriers, with a quantity of 2. Part number RKY0332..

Ask the Experts about this RockyMounts Accessories and Parts

Do you have a question about this Accessories and Part?

  • Is RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Bike Rack Compatible With Rockwood Premier Pop-Up Trailer?
  • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Roof Mounted Bike Rack # RKY1201 may fit the roof rack on your Rockwood Premier Hard Side A213HW, though you will need to measure the distance between the crossbars. If they are between 24" and 43" then the RockyMounts rack will work great for you. I highly recommend using the Lock Cores for RockyMounts Bike Carriers # RKY0332 to secure the investments you made in your rack and bike. I've added links to video reviews of these products for you to take a look...

  • Concern About Theft of Kuat Trio Roof Bike Rack with Attachment to Roof Crossbars
  • The Kuat Trio Roof Bike Rack - Fork Mount - Clamp On - Aluminum - Black and Polished Chrome # TR02 has tamper-resistant mounting hardware to attach it to the roof rack and then has an integrated cable lock to secure your rear wheel and frame to the rack. The security tool only has 5 sides as opposed to the basic Allen wrench with 6 sides. The only concern for theft is someone with the Trio Security key, but you can mitigate even that issue if you wrap the keyed cable lock around your...

  • The RockyMounts TomaHawk Roof Bike Rack for Fat Bikes - Wheel Mount - Clamp On - Aluminum # RKY1222 will absolutely fit the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Blade Crossbars like # RRVA118B-2 that are 3-1/8" wide x 1-3/16" tall. I do recommend using the lock cores # RKY0332 to secure your bike to the carrier and your carrier to the crossbars.

  • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Roof Bike Rack for Fat Bikes # RKY1201-FB referenced in your question does include an adapter that will allow you to also mount standard road or mountain bikes. You will be able to transport a bike with standard tire sizes or a fat bike with tire widths of up to 5 inches on this carrier. The ratcheting, padded hook and metal wheel brace will secure your bike by the front wheel, preventing any damage or scratching to the frame. The rack has a weight capacity...

  • Changing the Lock Core on RockyMounts Bike Racks and Ordering New Locks with Specific Numbers
  • The RockyMounts lock cores can be changed out on their bike carriers. If you want to have your RockyMounts products keyed the same then what you will do is either order a separate lock and key that has the same number as a lock and key that you already have. Or you can order a pack of cores such as # RKY0332 and change the locks on both products. To order a lock and key that matches what you already have you will look at the number on the key/lock that you have. For example if that number...

  • Troubleshooting Yakima ForkChop Fit with Rola Sport GTX Roof Rack on a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • Thank you for the pictures that you sent in. It looks like your bike is actually too big for this application and the Yakima ForkChop # Y02117 is prying on the Rola Sport GTX Series Roof Rack # 59967 which is causing your mounting issues. For your bike to fit properly on the ForkChop you need to make sure that the wheelbase of your bike is within (plus or minus) 10" of your crossbar spread. Since your crossbar spread should be 32" for this roof rack on your 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee...

  • Roof Rack Channel Mount Bike Carrier That Installs into T-Slots
  • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles # RKY1201 will not mount using T-slots on crossbars. However, the RockyMounts JetLine Bike Rack # RKY1321 can. The Jetline will only work with bikes that have a quick-release front wheel. It does feature a locking option by adding two lock cores # RKY0332. For another channel mount bike carrier that uses T-slots the Thule ProRide XT # TH598004 is a frame mount that doesn't require the front wheel to be removed. It uses a padded clamp that holds your...

  • Is a Roof Mounted Bike Rack Compatible with My Thule Canyon Cargo Basket?
  • I reached out to my contact at Thule and they said that they don't have a product designed to fit the Canyon Cargo Basket # TH859XT, however they also said that as long as you didn't alter the basket in any way you won't void any warranty by adding one. They also can't be liable for any malfunction based on you adding something to the cargo basket. I cannot make a recommendation for you based on that information, but if you choose to still add a bike rack, you may want something like...

  • Carrying 6 Bikes on a 2012 Honda Odyssey
  • There's a couple ways to do this, but the first thing you'll want to verify is your vehicle's towing capacity and roof capacity with your manufacturer to make sure you don't exceed your capacity. A quick tip on this setup is that the two 16 inch bikes are likely best carried in the rear cargo area of the vehicle, as there's only a few hitch racks that can carry them. Either way, you'll need to attach a hitch to get the best capacity out of your vehicle. I recommend using the Draw-Tite...

This is noted in the linked video but I have requested that this important dimension be added to the description.
