Question:
2000 Toyota 4Runner Trailer Wiring. I have a curt trailer hitch. I want to buy a wiring kit. I know nothing. I dont think I need a brake assist part just the light kit. Your kits have this message at the beginning: Separate wiring system - brake and turn signals are sent along separate wires. It is recommended to use a powered converter module to safeguard the vehicles wiring and support the trailer lights. Does this mean I need to buy a separate powered converter in addition to the kit? Between these two one says it has a powered converter the other just says it has a converter. Is there a difference between these two? Which one is better? 1. T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector 2. Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Thanks, Frank

Since you do not have a need for trailer brake wiring I have just what you need.
I recommend the T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118341. This harness includes the converter you need for your 4Runner, so you do not need another converter. The converter that is included with the harness combines the separate brake and turn signals on your vehicle to make them compatible with the wiring on your trailer. To install the harness you just need to access the connection points behind the trim panels in the rear cargo area behind the driver and passenger side trim panels. No other wiring is needed.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
