Do I have to cut away part of the heat shield to install a C13186 on a 2016 Ford Escape?

Yes, to install the Curt hitch part # C13186 on your 2016 Ford Escape will require you to trim part of the heat shield. In the install video I attached you can see how this is done.
I also attached a diagram that I took from the instructions that shows where to trim.
