Can Longer Bolts Be Used for Trailer Valet 5X to Fit 3 Inch Wide Trailer Frame

Question:

The specs say that Trailer Valet fits tongue sizes up to 2 3/4 inches in width. My trailer tongue is 3 inches wide 4 inches tall. Can I simply purchase longer bolts?

I spoke with my contact at Trailer Valet and he confirmed that you can purchase longer bolts to fit the Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack and Trailer Mover # STC-V211 around your trailer's 3 inch wide tongue. I recommend using Grade 8, 1/4 inch, stainless steel bolts to install the Trailer Valet 5X.

I confirmed with my contact at Trailer Valet that the bolts included with the Trailer Valet 5X # STC-V211 are 1/4 inch diameter by 4 inches long. It could be possible that these bolts would fit around your trailer's 3 inch frame. However for the 5X to be properly secured, there needs to be at least a couple of threads on the outside of the nut once it is tightened down.

If the included bolts don't allow enough threads of the bolt to extend far enough past the nut, it will be best to use longer bolts.
