What do I need to flat tow a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn 4x4 behind a 2008 Allegro Bus?

To flat tow your 2015 Ram 1500 4x4 you will need a base plate, tow bar, safety cables, towed vehicle wiring, and a supplemental braking system. When I checked the owner's manual, the 4x4 model can be towed 4 down, but you will want to check the manual for the steps that need to be taken to flat tow your Ram 1500.

The base plate I recommend for your Ram 1500 is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1986. The Blue Ox base plate features removable draw armsto help maintain the look of your vehicle when you are not towing. I have attached an installation video of this base plate on a similar Ram 1500 for you.

The tow bar I recommend for you is the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420. This tow bar includes the needed safety cables for flat towing.The Avail has a weight capacity of 10,000 pounds and will work well for your Ram.

For towed vehicle wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will allow you to splice into your vehicle's wiring system to use the existing taillights, turn signals, and brake signals while towing. The kit will provide a 6-way connector at the front of the vehicle, and includes a wiring extension to reach from the 6-way connector on the truck to a 7-way connector on the back of your Allegro.

For a supplemental braking system, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR. This system provides proportional breaking to your Ram 1500, applying the vehicle's brake proportional to the braking of the Allegro Bus.
