Why Would Trailer Hitch Install Bolts Not Thread Into Vehicle Frame Weld Nuts
Updated 04/07/2016 | Published 04/05/2016 >
Question:
I purchased a Curt trailer hitch for my 1997 Jeep Cherokee about two weeks ago and the bolts that came with it do not thread into the nuts in my frame on the passenger side. I tried both standard, and metric bolts that came with it and dont work.

This is a fairly common problem on vehicles that have seen a few seasons. What ends up happening is that the weld nuts on the vehicle frame end up developing corrosion or collecting dirt and this prevents the bolts from threading in. What you will need to do is clean the threads of the weld nuts and they hardware will thread right in.
I attached a help article and video that details how to do this for you to check out.
