Using Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode to Prevent Back-feeding With Trailer Lights
Updated 10/06/2015 | Published 10/04/2015 >
Question:
I am looking at wiring extra backup lights on trailer, and would also like to use them as loading lights with a separate switch. Since I will have two triggers going to the backup light relay, I need to isolate them from each other with a diode. My question is with the 790 having two inputs will this work for my application? I would assume that each input would require its own diode to prevent one source from backfeeding into the other. Thanks

The Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-790 will work well to prevent back-feeding for your application. You will only need one diode for the system.
The wire from the trailer connector will connect at one post on the "in" side, and the wire from the switch will connect at the other post on the "in" side. The wires going to the lights will come from the post on the "out" side.
