Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/15/2025

Question:

my 7-way cord gets very stiff in the cold weather and makes it almost impossible to hook up in some cases. Especially with as cold as its been recently. Any Advice or suggestions on how to remedy this?

Hey Bob, great question. It was about 7 degrees here in Missouri this morning, so I can relate to the cold. I do have a good solution for this too. What I would do is replace your current 7-way cord with the Curt Cold Weather 7-Way RV Style Connector # C23RJ. This cord is made from a flexible thermoplastic which will not become rigid in the extreme cold. It feels a bit more like soft rubber than hard plastic, even in temps as low as 40 below. Hopefully it never gets that cold here though lol.

Hey Bob, how did the Curt cold weather 7-way cord work out once the temps dropped again? Your feedback could really help others dealing with stiff cords in freezing weather.
