Should Brophy D-Rings be Installed on a Metal Trailer Frame or Through the Wood Floor

I have a 6x10 Belmonte trailer that I use to tow my Side by Side and atv vehichle. where should I mount the d rings? Threw the metal frame or wood floor?

Expert Reply:
The most secure place to install the trailer D-Ring # SR15-C is going to be the main frame structure of the trailer. If you choose to mount the D-Rings on the wood floor of the trailer I recommend placing a metal backing plate on the underside of the trailer for each D-Ring.
This will disperse the force applied (when the rings are in use) to a wider area of the floor so less stress is on it. There isn't a specific backing plate for this D-Ring but a 1/8 or 1-1/16 inch thick 5x5 inch piece of steel would be more than enough.
