Can the Dutton Lainson StrongArm Winch part # DL24874 Use a Strap Instead of Cable

Question:

When loading boat the cable rolled and kinked. I removed cable and replaced it with 20foot of 2inch marine grade strap. I attached directly on to winch roller by placing a small bolt through end of strap, put the bolt ends into the holes where the cable was, and winched it tightly. Is this the correct way to attach strap directly onto winch drive?

The Dutton Lainson StrongArm Winch part # DL24874 (also known as the SA12000), can have a strap or cable attached to it.

What you described is how you would replace the cable with a 2 inch strap for this winch.
