Upgraded Equalizers for Tandem Axle Trailer With Dexter 13-122

Updated 05/16/2026 | Published 05/14/2026

Question:

Looking to upgrade my Travel Trailer suspension. Would like to change out the current suspension equalizer. My current equalizer is a Dexter Equalizer part 13-122. I have a tandom axle with 35 inch spacing. Would like your recommendation for the upgrade. I was looking at the Lippert Road Armor and The MoRryde Cre 3000. Would also like to upgrade to the Wet Bolt Kit and bigger shackles . The current Dexter equalizer online measurements are 7 3/4 across center to center,,2 7/8 height with 9/16 hole.

Hey Ronnie! You want the upgraded equalizer to match the existing equalizer measurements so you don't throw off the suspension geometry. The Road Armor # LC53CK is only 6" long making it is a little too short for your setup.

The MORryde Shock Absorbing Suspension Equalizers # MR27ZR are the better choice here at 8". This is a close match to your 13-122 with the 7-3/4" measurement. Then you can add the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for wet bolts, bronze bushings, and 1/2" shackle straps.

The correct kit depends on your existing shackle strap measurement. If they're 2-1/4" center hole to center hole you need # MR46ZR. If they're 3-1/8" you need # MR76ZR instead.

What kind of travel trailer do you have?

I have a 2026 Alliance Delta Ultralight 234RK. The UVW is 5922 and the GVW is 7450. I checked and the current shackles are 2.25”. Still processing the information. I have had 5 travel trailers over the years and always just had the standard equalizer and shackles that came on the trailers. But what I’m seeing on a lot of YouTube is the upgrade is the way to go.

@RonnieM it is a big improvement, I have the Dexter E-Z flex myself. The upgraded equalizers, wet bolt kit, and MORryde X-Factor # MR33WR are probably the most common upgrades that make a real difference on travel trailers. If nothing else, I would at least do the wet bolt kit # MR46ZR. This is a relatively cheap upgrade that helps prevent failures and a potentially bad day out on the road.
