Best Load Range D ST205/75-14 Trailer Tire

Question:
I have a single axle Bigfoot travel trailer. Have 205/75/14 Goodyear Marathons that were original equipment in 92. Made in New Zealand, but have been sitting for a few years and sidewalls starting to deterioate. Time to replace tires and re-grease bearings. Wife generally packs it so it weighs at 3500 for axle rating. I would like to get the best rated D range for extra insurance for weight and best tire for 60 m.p.h. on freeway speeds in hot weather. I have read reviews on Kenda and Taskmaster and read one that liked the Hancook trailer tire. Are they available from your company? If not what you put on my trailer if it was yours?

Helpful Expert Reply:
For a load range D ST205/75-14 tire I recommend # AM10235. It is rated for 2,200 pounds at 75 psi. And it is rated for 81 miles per hour. We don't carry any Hankook trailer tires at this time.
Make sure that you always inflate trailer tires to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. This is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall than passenger vehicle tires to handle more vertical load. If under inflated that thicker sidewall will generate excessive heat and can cause premature tire failure.
