Helpful Expert Reply:
The Master Lock adjustable trailer coupler lock # 2847DAT will work with your Trailer Buddy XR-84 surge brake actuator because it has a 1/4 inch diameter pin. The Trailer Buddy can accommodate coupler locks with diameters of 1/4 and 5/16 inches.
It can adjust to accommodate widths of 5/8, 1 or 2 inch couplers. It is also stainless steel per your request.
Another style to consider is the trailer coupler lock that codes to early model GM keys. For example, the Bolt coupler lock # BL7025283 is nice because you don't need to carry an additional key. The pin can span between 1/2 inch to 3-3/8 inches and will have a stainless steel shaft. The diameter of the shank is 5/16 inches. If you let me know your year, make and model of your vehicle I would be more than happy to recommend a lock like this one.
I included a few videos for you to look at too.
