Brake Flange Installation Recommendations for a Trailer Axle

Question:
What is the best way to mount a brake flange for a 2 3/8inch rd axle for 10inch electric brakes?

In order to determine the correct placement for the brake mounting flange, you will need to put all wheel components together in the proper order on the spindle and then mark the location for the brake mounting flange.
The brake mounting flange needs to be welded on perfectly square and concentric and if it is off just a little bit, this can lead to all kinds of problems with trailer ride, stability, tire, and suspension wear. We strongly recommend that brake flanges be welded on by a professional shop that routinely works on trailers and has the equipment required to weld the flange to the spindle.
Most of the time people find it easier to just replace the axle with one that has flanges installed on them already.
