Question:
Want to remove rusted drums on a seadoo jetboat trailer, weight like 2500lbs. I want to just install normal hubs as the brakes have not worked in like 4 years, but need hubs. Can you tell me what hubs I need? Will a normal hub just fit?

Yes, we can help you select compatible idler hubs for your jet ski trailer.
Replacement idler hubs (hubs without a brake drum) can be selected by first confirming the axle's weight rating; this should be indicated on a plate or sticker on the axle itself, or on the trailer's VIN sticker. You need to choose hubs that are properly rated for the weight load that will be on them. You also need to match your wheels' bolt pattern.
Next you need to pull one of your existing hub/drum assemblies and find the bearing part numbers. It is essential that replacement hubs use the same set of bearings as the existing ones; this is necessary to ensure that the new hubs fit properly on your spindles.
The idler hub kit you referenced, Dexter 2200-lb EZ-Lube hub # 8-259-5UC1-EZ, uses bearing # L44649 for both its inner and outer bearings. If your axle is rated for 2K-lbs, has EZ-Lube spindles and your existing hubs use these same bearings and bolt pattern then this kit is correct.
I have included a link to our main page for idler hubs which has filters that allow you to narrow the results shown based on the characteristics of your existing hubs. First, choose axle capacity, then bolt pattern, then the inner and outer bearings to see idler hubs that are suitable for your trailer. An article on bolt patterns is included to help you verify this feature.
I also included links to an article and video on bearings that illustrates how to grease and install them. We offer bearing grease like # L54FR and a bearing packer # L70025 to simplify this process, though the kit you referenced comes pre-greased.
