How to Install Trailer Wiring in a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee without Interior Access Panel
Updated 04/07/2015 | Published 04/06/2015 >
Question:
I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 6 cyl 4 wheel drive 4 door. I purchased the Tow Ready 18349 for that specific vehicle. After coming across you YouTube channel and finding the installation video, I noticed that my particular Jeep does not have an access panel on the trim panel behind the Spare Tire as is shown on your video as well as in the installation instructions that came with the kit. Would this mean that I would have to remove the trim panel after removing the Spare Tire? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated in this matter. Thank you. Respectfully,

We had another customer with a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee who had the same issue as you. When they went to install the Tow Ready Wiring Harness part # 118349 they discovered that they did not have the access panel. They ended up having to remove the interior panels, but still were able to install the wiring harness like the install instructions with that being the only difference.
