2011 Ford Edge SEL Trailer Wiring Battery Wire Installation
Updated 04/07/2015 | Published 04/06/2015 >
Question:
I just purchased a 2011 Ford Edge SEL. It has a power wire already run from batter to the back of the vehicle. So Im guessing the previous owner took their trailer hitch and had it installed on their new vehicle. I noticed the power wire was not connected to the batter directly, but to the fuse box where it looks like a power wire goes from battery to fuse box. Is this ok or normal? Your instructions state to connect to the battery lead.

It's hard to say exactly what the wire you found in the back of your 2011 Ford Edge was used for. It could have been for a stereo. But since the Curt Wiring harness # C56120 that you referenced requires you to run the battery wire all the way to the positive battery post you would need to run that wire to the battery instead of the fuse box if you plan to use it for this install.
I attached an install video for this harness for you to check out as well.
