Hello , this question is Michael H. Who help me out greatly last time. I ordered the 2 new hubs finally for 2010 venture trailer , I noticed that there were no bearing buddys. Do I need them ? How do I re- grease the hubs ?

Expert Reply:

You don't have to have Bearing Buddies for hub # AKIHUB-440-2-1K but you can use them if you want to (as long as the spindle the hubs go onto does NOT have a grease zerk fitting at the very end). You would need 1.98 bearing protectors such as # BB1980A-SS, # BB1980A, or # KREB1980AC.

Then to fill the hubs (and bearings) with grease you would use a grease gun such as # L30100 and grease such as # L54FR.

If you don't want to use bearing protectors you will need to pack the bearings by hand. I have included a link to a video that shows how to pack bearings with grease by hand. We also have a tool that can be used, # L70025, that you can use with a grease gun to limit the mess.
