I can't recommend using a Dexter brake shoe on a Hayes/Al Ko brake assembly. The parts haven't been tested together for fit, so I honestly couldn't say if they'd work or not. The same would go for the return spring.
Our usual recommendation is for folks to simply replace the entire brake assembly when the pads wear out. This way all your brake shoes, springs, adjuster and magnet are new as well.
For a 10 inch brake drum, a 2-1/4 inch wide brake pad is what we have available. You can determine if a 10 x 2-1/4 inch brake assembly will work for you by measuring the depth of your brake drum. If its at least 2-1/4 inches deep, a standard brake assembly like # 23-26 for the left side and # 23-27 for the right would work great. We don't offer a 10 x 1-5/8 inch brake assembly.
If the magnets of your current brake assemblies are grooved, examine the armature surface (inside surface of the drum where the face of the magnet rides) of your brake drum. If the armature surface has grooves worn in it, you'll want to consider replacing the drum as well. I'll link you to our selection of brake drums. You'll want to use the filters at the left side of the page to choose the reference numbers from your inner and outer bearings as well as the proper bolt pattern so you get the correct drum.
