Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2001 Ford Taurus with Class I Hitch

Question:
I bought a trailer hitch of Draw Tite 24699 for my 2001 Ford Taurus a few weeks ago, and installed on my car. However, the Curt 18084 Hitch-Mounted Tray-Style Bike Rack which I bought new on Amazon as well is not able to fit into the receiver tube all the way. It is stopped by the tab on the Draw Tite receiver tube, so the pre-manufactured holes could not align with each, which causes the pin not go through the holes to hold the two pieces together. Could you please recommend a solution? Thanks.

The issue that you are running into is that the Draw Tite hitch part # 24699 that you referenced is a Class I hitch and the cargo carrier you bought is a Class II only accessory. That tab that you have found in the hitch is designed to prevent Class II accessories from being used in the hitch. This is so you don't overload the hitch.
Realistically the only solution I can recommend for you would be to go with a Class I rated cargo carrier like the # C18145. Check out the review video I attached for this carrier for you to check out as well.
We also have a class II hitch available for your Taurus, it is the Curt # C12232.
I also attached a help article that covers the differences between the hitch classifications.
