Reading 12-Volts on 6-way Connector of Kaufman Tilt Bed Trailer

Question:
why is there 12 plus volts between 2 of the poles on the 6 way connector on my kaufman tilt bed bumper hitch trailer? when it is not hooked to the truck at all

Do you mean that you're using a circuit tester on your 6-way connector on the trailer (not the truck) and you're reading 12 volts on one of the pins? The only way that would happen would be if you had a battery mounted on the trailer. Typically, the battery is connected to the 12-volt supply circuit off the 6-way to receive a maintenance charge.
