Question:
I just got a 2003 Coleman Carmel popup camper which has a single Dexter axle with 7 x 1 1/4inch electric breaks. The tow vehicle is a 2006 Hummer H3. I read it has wiring for a break controller in place. This is the only trailer I will use that has breaks so Im looking to keep it economical. Are these Tekonsha units appropriate and what is the difference? Code: 39523-TM75127 Code: 39523-20127 thank,

Yes, to install a brake controller all you would need is the Tekonsha PowerTrac Brake Controller part # 39523, which is a great economically priced controller and the correct wiring harness part # 20127. Either harness will work fine.
Your 2006 Hummer H3 should have four or five blunt cut wires under the left side of the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. You should see a bundle that contains a red wire with a black stripe, a white wire, light blue wire with a white stripe, a dark blue wire and possibly an orange wire.
The bundle could be above the emergency foot brake, behind the plastic kick panel or above the brake pedal. This bundle of wires is what is used to hook up the electrical lead wires coming off the back of a brake controller. I will include a link to a page to a brake controller help page that has a chart on how to match the wire colors. You may need to cut off the plastic connector at the end of the wires because your vehicle will not use a plug-in style connector.
I have attached two help articles that should help you when installing the brake controller in your vehicle as well as an installation video. The vehicle and brake controller in the video is different, but it should help you locate the wire bundle under the dash and give you an idea how to connect the brake controller.
