Question:
I have a 2014 gmc acadia with factory tow package. It came with the factory wiring harness for a brake control box. one end is the factory plug connection and the other end are bare wires to make a hard wire connection. 1. which brake control box on your website do you recommend. 2. I am having trouble locating where the connection for the wiring harness is under the driver side dash/kick panel. do you have a link to a picture/diagram?

Among the most popular and reliable trailer brake controllers we offer is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, part # 90195. This proportional controller works with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic brakes and will ensure your trailer will stop in proportion to the tow vehicle, which saves wear and tear on the brakes of both vehicle and trailer.
If your Acadia has a factory tow package with 7-way trailer socket at the rear bumper you'll need to order just the controller itself and the matching quick-connect harness, part # 3026-P. I have linked for you a video showing installation of these components in a 2011 GMC Sierra. This will help you find the wiring.
If your truck does not have a factory 7-way socket at the rear bumper then instead you'll need to order the controller unit and our installation kit, part # ETBC7. This kit includes everything you need to convert the truck's 4-pole flat trailer wiring to a 7-way and to allow completion of the brake controller wiring. I have linked both a video and article on installing the ETBC7.
If you do not have a working 4-pole on the truck you'll need to install one. If needed you can use part # C56245 from Curt.
