Pilot Automotive # BLS-1101 Fire Strip LED Light Bar for 2015 Toyota Tacoma
Published 12/24/2014 >
Question:
I am looking to get one of these light bars for my dads truck. He has a 2015 Toyota tacoma. Right in the middle of where the light bar would go is a slot to access and lower the spare tire. I see that your light bar comes in two peaces that I can put on each side the that slot. My question is how is the wiring that connects the two peaces together? Also I would have to trim it down to fit the over all length. If I cut it down to length, how do I connect the two halfs together?

The Pilot Automotive # BLS-1101 Fire Strip actually comes in two pieces, with each side being wired independently. The strip is meant to be trimmed to size, so you can trim it to straddle the opening under the tailgate that's used to access the pulley that raises and lowers the spare tire. Because each half is independently wired, you won't need to reconnect the halves.
The # BLS-1101 will work perfectly for your Dad's truck. The light strip is designed to plug into a 4-pole trailer connector. If your Dad's truck doesn't have a trailer connector, you can install one using part # 118496. If the truck has the OEM 7-way, you can provide a 4 pole by using an adapter like part # 37385.
