Can 5 on 5" Jeep Hubs Be Used on M1101 Trailer

Updated 09/30/2024 | Published 09/16/2024

Question:

I scrolled through and before I start measuring, I want to put 5x5 Jeep hubs on my m1101 trailer. I read multiple posts and forums that you guys had a solution with electric brakes and smaller hubs for that spindle Do you have a suggestion? I really like the parking brake however Id really like to take it off of the Humvee 8x6 and 1/2 hubs and put it on the Jeep 5x5 hubs. Thanks! Let me know what you guys got

Hey Mike, I'd be happy to help you figure this out!

It looks like we have some guesses on what works, but I 'm not seeing any surefire replacement solutions, especially ones that work with the smaller 5 on 5" bolt pattern.

If you can verify what bearings and seal your M1101 trailer currently uses, or verify the different spindle measurements (see attached guide) I can see if we have something that matches the specs you're needing.

Thanks for the reply. Researching it, the answer is a simple no. I did find a very simple solution tho.. 8x165.1 hubs (8*6.5) are too large (spindle and bearing) to even adapt to 5x5, the axle needs to be changed to go to hub with 5x5. The 8x6.5 pattern is used on larger axles for capacity, 5x5 is lighter duty so legally no one even makes an adapter. However, 8x165.1 (8x6.5) wheels Are probably the most common pattern on the planet, in that gm, Ford, dodge, etc all used that pattern from1948 to 2000 ( and some into 2000's) until there's a mix of 8x170 and 8x180. I found some 8x165.1 x17 wheels and simply replaced the tires on the trailer. Thanks for the response, that's why I'm taking the time to update fyi The bearings are the very common 14125A Cheers, Mike.
