Looking For New Wheels For M1101 Army Trailer
Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/26/2025 >
Question:
I bought a M1101 chassis trailer from auction. It is a former Army trailer. It has 37x12.50r16.5 tire wheel combo on them. Very old tires, been sitting out in the sun since 2009. I dont feel like spending the money on new sets of what i think are Hummer tires. Will this wheel work on my trailer? Thank you.

Hey Braden, thanks for getting in touch. We do come across these M1101 Army trailers every now and then. It looks like the wheel in your picture is an old split-style rim. That is why you see that outer circle of bolts - they hold the wheel together.
This can be replaced with a traditional trailer wheel like the Dexstar # AM20766 you were looking at. Please verify that your bolt pattern is the standard 8 on 6-1/2", Also, check and make sure the 4.89" pilot hole is correct for your hubs. As long as these specs match you can be sure the wheel will work for you.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hey Braden, did you have a chance to check if the bolt pattern and pilot hole size match your trailer's specs? I'm asking because it could help others with similar trailers make the right choice.
