I bought this after installing 4.56 ring and pinion gears in the front a rear axles in my 02 gmc sierra 1500. Due to differences in where wheel speed data is collected between the front and rear axles you'll get an abs warning light if you make any changes in drivetrain bearing. This unit has the ability to adjust the parameters for tire size and gear ratio in order for the ECU to perform the necessary calculations. The result is that the ECU can then realize that both front and rear wheel are in fact rotating at the same speed, which turns of the abs light. I also used a GPS speedometer and adjusted tire size so that the indicated speed matches perfectly a calibrated gps speed perfectly. Its actually more accurate now then it ever was. So I can confirm that this unit will correct both issues you may have. I havnt used any of the "canned" tunes so no comment on performance, towing or mpg gains. Just adjusted the parameters on the stock tune and been running it like that for a year with no issues

1 year later still havnt loaded any other tunes in it, have used the code reader a few times and it works just fine. Basic sure but if the lights on itll tell you why. Speedo still correct and no abs light so it was kinda an expensive fix for just that. Im sure the other tunes are just fine never had a problem with them on my other trucks just never tried them on this one... so yea thumbs up?

2007 Chevrolet Suburban

The tunes that come with it are great! However the other functions aren't all that special. The code reader is basic at best. It wont pull any advanced codes, the $[XX] code reader from wal mart does the same thing. Also when I changed the tire size from the stock 27" to the new 33" it didn't load it properly and caused the brake and ABS warning lights to lose their minds and flash constantly. Overall its overpriced for what you get.

2015 GMC Sierra 1500

Wow! I love this tuner! I enjoy the ability to change the tune from performance to towing in a mater of minutes . I was happy to disable the DOD (cuts off 4 cylinders on light load) and to raise the speed limiter too! very happy!

by:

Not a noticeable gain in any of the modes. I would just buy a cold air intake instead and save your money on this basic tuner.

by:

Truck works better with it. It’s an incremental improvement but noticeable.

2018 GMC Sierra 2500

The Superchips Flashpaq F5 did exactly what it said it would, Better fuel mileage more power at gas pedal i think its great for the 2500 Gmc 6.0

I had to update the tuner two times in order to get the tunes for my truck once I got the tune installed it don’t change my shift points in the transmission my first chip I got back in 2000 changed my shift points as well up the horse power .you would think we’d have better technology in 2021.
I had called the tech line about four times and all the techs I talked to were nice and helpful.

This programmer makes a big difference with my 2008 Expedition (5.4 V8, 6 speed auto). Fuel saver mode gave me around 2 mpg better on the highway, Performance 91 gives it a great snarl and significantly more power. Regular 87 mode, after a day or two, had smoother shifting and less gear hunting at low loads. Feels a little more powerful too. I haven't tried towing yet.

by:

First I have to say that ETRAILER has the absolute best customer service out there. When I ordered this over the phone, there was an error that doubled up everything (glitch in the system I believe). Anyway, before shipping, and charging me double for everything, they called me to confirm that was what I really wanted... good thing.

As far as the Superchips is concerned. It's great. Really unlocked my truck's power. So easy, a caveman could set it up. Tells you recommendations (i.e. in performance mode, don't tow, etc.). Also, for Mac users, the Flashpaq F5 is upgradeable on your computer. Just go to the Superchips website, download the "ignition" software and you're good to go. I spoke with Superchips and they acknowledged that's an error on their website. If you're going for fuel economy, go with the "Performance" mode. I've seen easily a 3MPG overall gain in that mode. It's also the one that increases the most torque and HP. Highly recommend this product if you want something simple that will unlock your Cummins while keeping it safe... and you really can't go wrong by ordering from ETRAILER. Seriously, I have ordered tons from them and they are awesome!

by:

The Flashpaq seems to be working really well for fuel economy but I haven't tried it with my 5th wheel yet. If it works as good as the service I had from etrailer, I don't think that I'll have any problems at all. You guys were great with keeping me updated on my order.
Thank you

by:

Had an EDGE tuner for my '08 F250 that I liked better. This one is kind of slow to update the computer (2 files, with lots of ignition off/on cycles). I tried the Performance tune and went for a quick ride. Yep, it worked. Loaded the Towing program, we'll see how that works out.

by:

Simple to use with easy menus and update process via your computer. Don't expect a dramatic power boost with gas engine. I have noticed much improved mid range throttle response, especially at higher elevations. My 2500 HD no longer has to downshift 2 gears to maintain or increase speed on 5 to 6% grades in winding turns in the 45 to 55 mph speed range. Wide open throttle passes at higher speeds seem to be a bit quicker. To soon to form any opinion on fuel mileage.

by:

So far I have only used it on the 87 octane tune setting. Definitely an overall mild improvement in performance. Does not kick out of overdrive while in cruise control mode nearly as often. Picked up at least one possibly two miles per gallon.

by:

Really helped unlocking power at lower RPM with heavy trailer load. Easy to use.

by:

Have this on my 2.7 l F-150 for a year and it definitely adds a little kick and it's great to have the OBD feature

by:

I ordered a Superchips Flashpaq for my 02 Dodge Ram 4.7. ETrailer was one of very few websites that was clear in its discription on wheather or not it would work on my truck. The customer service is great and the price was good.

by:

Easy to use, works great. This in addition to cold air induction and cat back exhaust really woke my truck up.

by:

Great fuel economy it doubled my mpg. The performance is great it adds alot of extra power. Havent tried the towing yet but if i have no dout that it will work just ass good as the rest of the of them. Thanks alot.

by:

Took about 10 mins for the PCM to upload the stock tune then about another 5 minutes to program the Fuel savings tune, I could almost instantly notice a difference. I drive a pretty steep hill on my way to work and always have to downshift and lose speed near the top, not anymore I can take the hill in 5th and Speed up as well. 20 HP doesn’t seem like much but it makes a huge difference. Next text will be when I tow my RV to the coast on the heavy towing tune.

by:

Product arrived on time. Works as advertised. Easy plug and play type interface. Like being able to change my trucks program as I see fit. Would recommend to anyone that likes tweaking cars and trucks.

by:

Easy to follow instructions, had it installed in 5 minutes. Performance has improved noticable.

by:

The superchips f5 Flash paq is horrible it did nothing for my truck but make it lose fuel milage even with economy tune i would not recommend this product to anyone

by:

Thank you etrailer for your awesome customer service. etrailer will be my go to site for all my automobile needs.

  • What Would Make Superchips Flashpaq F5 Say Vehicle Did Not Respond on 2005 GMC Yukon?
Typically when the Superchips Flashpaq F5 # SU2845 you have is reading vehicle did not respond like yours is, it means that there is aftermarket electronics interfering. Check that the purple wire in the back of your OBDII port in your 2005 GMC Yukon doesn't have anything spliced in like an aftermarket stereo etc, however lights would only cause an issue if spliced into this wire. You'll also need to make sure your battery is completely charged.

There will be an option for this setting during setup which will prompt you to disable the system, it's pretty easy and straight froward. That said, I don't really have any sort of write-up for this but once you get started you will see why it's not needed.

Any gain in horsepower would probably not be noticeable on a vehicle that already has a ton of power. It can help the engine run more efficiently.
