Video Transcript for Camco RV Wiring - Power Adapter - CAM55025 Review

Today were going to review part #: CAM55025. This is the Camco Powergrip RV power maximizer. What this maximizer will allow you to do is when you pull into an RV park and you might have an option of a 15 amp or a 30 amp electrical outlet and your RV has a 50 amp power cord what you can end up doing, you can plug this female end right here and thats to your RVs 50 amp power plug and then with these two ends that are divided off here you could actually, instead of getting one or the other, if you plug both these in you can get a 45 amps of combined power. This male end right here is 15 amps. This one right here, this 30 amp male end will plug into a 30 amp receptacle. If you plug both of these in at the RV park you can get a combined 45 amps going to your RV instead of having to just choose between one or the other.

As you can see on this end and on this one right here there are built in handles. What thatll allow you to do on these connectors is when you plug these in some times, when you go to unplug them theyre a little hard to pull out. With these handles right here, this Powergrip handle will allow you to pull these connections out a lot easier. As youll notice, all the connectors on here, the female and the two male ends, are yellow in color, very bright yellow. Thatll make it easy to see if youre in any low light conditions when you pull into the RV park.

That should do it for the review on part #: CAM55025, the Camco Powergrip RV power maximizer. .

This trailer plug is what everyone needs if you have 50 amp camper plug and if you go to a camping site that has 30 amp service with this plug you can get 45 amps of service. so I can run both my AC units at the same time. Very well made. Heavy Duty. Thank you E-Trailer!!!

by:

Comes in handy when no 50 amp plug.

by:

Works great can run both air conditione rs

by:

This is a great alternative to the 30 to 50 amp dogbone that I already own. For those times when I need (or want) to run the AC, microwave, water heater and fridge at the same time and only have a 30 amp connection available this will come in handy. I've run a separate 15 amp extension cord a couple of times to set up an outside kitchen and I don't think I've ever found a 30 amp plug without the 15 amp sockets right there too. As long as they're not GFCI this cable will give me 45 amps in the trailer when there's no 50 amp connection. Or - like last year on New Years Eve when the 50 amp circuit only had one side working - and you're forced to use the 30 amp socket or nothing at all.

Even better now that I carry a 15 amp socket. I can change out the GFCI outlet if thats all thats available and change it back before I leave, of course . Thanks John G. For the hint...

by:

Works great. Versatility when needing to shore power.

by:

Excellent service and outstanding real time tracking!!!!
Very quick shipping and delivery!

I bought this Camco Power Grip a year ago and have used it daily for eight of the last 12 months. I have a 50 amp RV and am plugged into a 30 amp service and would often kick the breaker with routine use. I was limited on the use of electrical appliances. Since purchasing the Power Grip I have much better use of my electrical system. I can even run both AC units at the same time which I have done occasionally. I highly recommend this product.

by:

I purchased this adaptor for the rare times I can only get 30 amp service. It arrived today with fast shipping and great communication from etrailer.com. I highly recommend this company. The product appears to work exactly as described.

I have found that the majority of campgrounds have GFCI circuits for their 20 amp service. This device will not work with a GFCI plug so actually it can’t be used very often. That does not negate that it appears to be well made and will work under the right conditions.

Never worked correctly like advertised always tripped breakers where ever it was hooked up. Also have a surge protector on the camper and these two products are not compatible with each other. Waste of money

Are the outlets the adapter used with the GCFI type? As stated in the product description, this adapter isnt compatible with GFCI outlets.

by:

We've only needed to use it once, but boy, did it come in handy. Works as advertised.

etrailer shipped it quickly, and it arrived on time and in good condition. Excellent service.

Still zero issues after more than a year of usage. Good to have in those emergency situations where theres no 50A circuit.

I haven’t used my power grip yet but I bought it because my uncle has one. It works great we were camping and the campsite only had 30amp hookup. My RV has a 50amp plug and I used a 30amp adapter but the power kept shutting off. My uncle used his power grip adapter and he didn’t have any problems. That’s why I purchased my own. Everyone should have one who does RV camping. Thanks

by:

Very helpful when only a 30 amp and a15 amp service, able to run both air conditioners.
Great product.

by:

Perfect for those "older" campgrounds that only have 30 amp service. A friend of mine got one and I had to have it. Works great so I can use both air conditioners when I need to.

by:

An excellent product, and etrailer is exceptional in ease of ordering and delivering the product most expediently. I agree that in campgrounds with a GFCI 15 amp plug, it can become problematic, and I have had the experience of some Camp Rangers not allowing this type plug. (Most Camp Rangers do not understand nor can tell this maximizer is in place with the lid closed) It is a GREAT! product, and it has served me well, as well as the shopping experience to obtain this maximizer.

by:

After a little mixup, Great customer service and support!

by:

Well made unique heavy duty RV Shore power adapter to allow 45 amps from 2 sources to feed 50amp plug. Shipping was fast.

by:

Great product! Most campgrounds around here only have a limited number of 50 amp hook-ups and the rest are 30 amp.

This allows to get the most out of the 30 amp service by combining the 30 and 15-20 amps that are available and giving us 45 amps.

BTW, these folks rock at fast shipping and delivery!!!

by:

well made, fast shipping,reasonable price.
My first 50 amp trailer, enables me to charge battery with 110 15 amp in front of house also run refer. before leaving on a trip.

by:

etrailer matched the lowest price I could find and they refunded me the difference. I will shop her again. Customer service was on point.

by:

I like this product. It really gives me options when I'm hooking up my 50amp 5th wheel. And it's built very sturdy.

by:

This is my first time using etrailer. My order was delivered on time. It was exactly what I ordered.I will use etrailer from now on

by:

Easy to find products. Cost effective compared to others. Expeditious delivery. Extra mile follow up with delivery notifications. Would definitely go here first for trailer/RV items and highly recommend.

by:

Just received my adapter today. It is perfect got what we need. Shipping was fast and the price was great. I would definitely do business here again.

by:

I haven’t had the opportunity to use the adapter yet the quality loos great and the service was awesome.

by:

etrailer provides an amazing web site, competitive prices and sudden service. They know their products and don't appear to sell junk. I will continue to look for my RV needs on etrailer first.

  • Recommended Adapters for 50 Amp RV to Alternative Connection
There are many adapters that can work for you but not the 20 amp to 50 amp. For a 15 amp to 50 amp, use the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter - 50 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male # A10-1550 or the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter Plug - 15 Amp Male to 50 Amp Female - Detachable # A10-1550DAVP. For the 30 amp to 50 amp conversion, you can use the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter Plug - 30 Amp Male to 50 Amp Female - Detachable # A10-3050DAVP or the Mighty Cord Dogbone RV Power Cord Adapter...

  • Can Power Grip Power Maximizer Plug into Generator and Park Outlet
Yes the configuration you mentioned would work fine with the Power Grip RV Power Maximizer # CAM55025. You can plug the 15 amp plug into a generator and the 30 amp into a power outlet and you'd be totally fine.

  • Recommended Adapter and Surge Protector for 50 Amp System to 30 Amp Shore Power
With your 50 amp camper system, I recommend using the Power Grip RV Power Maximizer - 50 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male and 30 Amp Male # CAM55025 to allow you to plug into 30 amp power supplies. Then you will use a surge protector like # CAM55306 for multiple surge protection or # CAM55313 for single time surge protection. Many people use the Camco Power Grip Cable with Lock # CAM44290 to protect their investment. Unless you convert your entire system to 30 amp, I don't recommend using a...

  • Independent Power Source Compatibility of Camco Power Grip RV Power Maximizer
The Power Grip RV Power Maximizer - 50 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male and 30 Amp Male # CAM55025 will allow you to get power from either or both connections to shore power source. Your 50 amp motorhome may not allow all your powered features if only connected to 15 or 30 amp power independently. It is designed so you plug both the 30 amp and 15 amp plugs in to gain up to 45 amps power for your 50 amp system to maximize the power available to you for your 50 amp RV power.

  • Can I Use the CAM55025 on a GFI Outlet
The Power Grip RV Power Maximizer - 50 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male and 30 Amp Male # CAM55025 is not compatible with a GFI because of the function of the outlet-mainly the lack of a completed uninterrupted ground circuit in the wiring that does not allow it to function correctly. The engineers at Camco have determined that it needs the uninterrupted flow that a GFI outlet cannot provide.

  • Could Power Grip RV Power Maximizer Plug into a 15 amp and a 20 amp Power Source
It would be possible to plug the male ends of the Power Grip RV Power Maximizer # CAM55025 to both power sources that you mentioned as long as the connectors match. On the male side of the adapter is a 15 amp plug and a 30 amp style plug. Normally a 20 amp outlet has a slightly different plug than a 15 amp. You'd have to source an adapter for that though since we don't carry one currently.

  • Power Maximizer Recommendation for an RV with a 50 amp Receptacle
The Power Grip RV Power Maximizer # CAM55025 that you referenced will plug into the 30 amp receptacle as well as a 15 amp receptacle and will give you a combined 45 amp on a 50 amp power plug. I wish we had a version that gave you a 30 amp plug like you need. I know it' probably annoying but the only advice I could give you would be to wait till your AC is not running to run your microwave.

You'll be able to plug the 15 amp plug into your 20 amp generator but it will only pull 15 amps.

  • Recommended Surge Protector for 50 Amp 5th Wheel Trailer Connection to Shore Power
For your 50 amp system, you will want the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor - 50 Amp # CAM55306. This voltage monitor disconnects when dangerous voltage levels are detected and then reconnects when it stabilizes. This is much better than the cheap surge protectors that need replacing and are only good for one surge and then leave you disconnected or vulnerable. The Power Grip RV Power Maximizer - 50 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male and 30 Amp Male # CAM55025 has independent wiring connected to the 50 amp Female end. When you plug in the 30 amp male, there will not be 30 amps of power going to the smaller 3 prong male connector as that would give you a live circuit exposed to the elements. The nice thing is that when there is a 15amp circuit available that is not GFI, then you can send 45 amps to your 50 amp system. If you just need the converter...
