6-Pin Connector

This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an old or broken air conditioner on your RV or camper. It has a 6-pin connector for easy plug-and-play installation and it works with your existing Advent Air or Dometic air distribution box. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation easy.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 15,000 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple. Most AC units are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't needed. Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

And in order to fully complete installation, this AC needs to be paired with your existing Advent Air or Dometic air distribution box and thermostat.

Additional Accessories

Additional accessories can be purchased separately to improve the performance of your Advent Air AC unit. The start capacitor (ACMSCKIT) improves the performance of your AC by using stored energy to jumpstart it. And the electric heat strip (ACMHD) removes the chill on cold or frosty mornings in your RV, ensuring you stay comfortable. Please note that the heat strip will only work on Advent Air AC units.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), you'll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

The ease of installation to convert from a coleman mach series to an Advent is straightforward and quick. This was my first installation of a motor home roof mounted ac unit. I purchased the adapter plug with the templates for the conversion which I highly recommend. Yes I do have a little mechanical knowledge and experience, but anyone with a drill, the correct bit and reading comprehension can install this unit in 2 hours. Now I cheated removing and replacing the old unit with a crane. Yeah I know, overkill, but I was by myself and on the Texas coast 85 feels like 105, 105 degrees feels like a slow burning death. I plan on replacing my other coleman mach with the same unit that I did Saturday last weekend. Hope this review helps yall out. Thanks and God bless

Out preforms both my Coleman Mach 15,s by a long shot. As in since installed I only run 1 Coleman and the Advent. Im on the Texas Gulfcoast where AC is pretty much a life saver. Literally. If needed that one of my Colemans went out, I would go Advent, sell the one that is rarely used and be comfortable. Im currently in a 1996 38 Gulfstream motorhome, in the Gulf coast region that yesterday the Real feel temp was 117 degrees. Was working outside, walked inside and with 1 Coleman and the Advent, 74 degrees. Fast, efficient and will be v the only AC unit Ill purchase again if needed. Plus, tech support through Etrailer.com is second to none. Knowledgeable, polite and very quick with response or tech questions.

Initial results are promising with a frosty ~47 degree airflow. Very easy direct replacement for my older Dometic AC that started freezing up. I spent more time re-taping the airbox than on the rest of the install. Only 2 thing to note about this unit vs the one it replaced; First, it kind of 'floats' on the main seals and the foam pads on the rear of the unit don't touch the roof. I had some adhesive EVA foam laying around that I added to fill the gap so now they are just touching the roof and should provide better support. Second, the air outlet is far to one side of the unit as seen in the photos. I have a ducted setup with a dump vent and this is so far to the side the airflow out of the dump isn't as good as the old unit which was centered. It's much better into the ducts on that side though and that one feeds the majority of the trailer so hopefully it's a net improvement.

by:

Advent lasted exactly 5 years on my unit I'm replacing. Fortunately I noticed a freon line touching a bracket inside and was able to bend it clear otherwise it would have worn thru and due to vibration caused a leak.

Still working fine in the Arizona heat.

by:

Not sure yet considering it show out for delivery for three days the show up In this status no instructions and foam padding pretty much all gone except one side. It was clearly open and just taped it closed after everything clearly had fallen out. So let’s hope for the best.

The unit was very easy to replace. The old unit was a 13,500 Btu Dometic. I was told (by etrailer) this unit would be a plug and play type since I had a previous Dometic system. Both units have the same wiring system, and they do. I simply unplugged the quick connect from old unit, removed the cooling sensor from the fins, removed the 4 bolts securing the unit to the RV, replaced the old unit with the new upgraded Advent #ACM150 15,000 Btu unit. Repeated the procedure in reverse with the new unit and the process was complete. I'm 'EXTREMELY PLEASED' with the new Advent unit and the ease of switching both units out. I Highly recommend 'etrailer' for Quick delivery Service, Reasonable Price and Professionalism. P.S. I apologize for not taking picture's /video of procedure.

I Love It! Still working great!

by:

Shipped quick , once was restocked, came in with small damages to outside shell and small dent on side, almost pinched copper line, should be packaged better from company for shipping (not an ETrailer issue)so far unit seems to be working better then the original (never worked) and replacement 13500 units that Camping World had put on trailer (took off another trailer) so I decided to buy my own to replace since no trust in Camping World and work performed

by:

The last 2 AC replacements I had to do I went with Advent instead of Dometic for several rteasons including quality and price. And etrailer has the very best customer service and prices around! Good AC at a good price with good service. What more could you asl for?

I have now installed quite a few of these without a single customer complaint. Simple yet quality design and reliable. They just work.

by:

I've replaced 3 Dometic units with these and appreciate they are a direct replacement fit that simply plugs in. The hardest part is getting them on the roof, and these are lighter than the ones I replaced. They are a little louder, but at a much lower cost much worth it.

Finally, one of mine died under warranty and the company replaced without the usual hassle and pushback expected. They had an easy to reach call center that walked me through the process and the new one shipped in 1-day! The only pain was the requirement to ship to a company vs. a residence so we used a friend's business address.

Have an 1999 Ford E-150 van used as an RV. I built a 30 amp box with 2-20 amp circuits several years ago. I and 3 doggies travel all over the SE for dog agility competitions. Loading and lifting a window A/C unit into the driver's side widow worked, but a major task. I cut and framed a hole in the van roof and installed the Advent ACM150. Had to install 12 volt system for thermostat and fish both 110 and 12 volt wire through walls and ceiling. A/C turned on perfectly the very first time I pushed the thermostat on button. Wowee...100 degrees outside; 69 degrees in the van. Absolutely life changing for me an my doggies. P.S. I am a nice 75 year old lady and still cannot believe I did this install all by myself. One year and miles later, this A/C is perfect!

Its now been three years and AC is still working perfectly. We are absolutely delighted and super cool even on very hot days with van parked in the sun.

by:

It was basically plug and play installation on my RV, I installed 2 units at different times took approximately 1 hour. The 1st unit no problem, 2nd unit started up but was not running correctly then I remembered the 1st unit had a n extra ground wire I didn’t hook up! So I took the extra ground wire off and the unit runs great! Make sure you order the starter kit or order the unit with it already installed!!! Both units are running fine this year!!

Very good! The 1st one installed a capacitor failed outside temp was very hot and I was able to replace it. Worked Great with no problems after that!!

I ordered the Advent ACM150 on 6-18-2024 and it was damaged when I received it on 6-20-2024, so I immediately asked to return it. They did not have another unit in stock so I opted for a refund. On 6-21-2024 I returned it thru UPS with the label provided by Etrailer. Etrailer received it on 6-24-2024 and it is 7-4-2024 and I still have not received my refund. They take your money quickly and sure are slow about refunding you. I personally would not recommend to anyone I know from buying from etrailer.

by:

First off etrailer delivered, the promised delivery date on spot.
Unpacking the Advent A/C unit. Well protected, resisted shipping attempts to damage. Installation of unit went very smooth, thanks to instructional videos. This unit blows real cold air, and cooled the camper to a comfortable temp. The outside temperature was about 90. This unit replaced a worn out Dometic perfectly.

by:

The new Advent AC is received, installed and working.

Please note, there was some damage to the main frame on two sides. The shipping box is retained although there were no visible signs of damage to the box.

by:

2nd came small dent in rite side use it anyway waiting on 9 pin to 6 pin adapter was supposed to be here today also its a no show tracking said 7/6/24 be gone then

by:

Good unit easy to install. Was a smaller footprint than the old unit but just as effective. Some settling during shipment as the styrofoam case for the fan was touching and preventing the fans to turn freely. Just something to keep in mind when installing.

by:

Product arrived a few days later than originally stated. The box was ripped and the air conditioner was dented on one corner. Haven't installed it yet but should be OK.

by:

We have a 2015 columbas and this unit was a direct replacement! Simple plug and play installation. The only issue I had was the way I came about the unit I was unaware that the unit came in black as well as the white one I purchased. I wish I would have ordered a black one to match the other unit I have on the roof. Very happy with my purchase regardless!!

by:

The unit cools well, but still struggles during the middle of the Georgia summer day on my class A Coachman RV. I had only one problem during install and it was partly my fault. One of the four mounting bolts had some rust on the thread that I didn’t clear and it caused the integrated nut to break loose from the chassis and spin freely. Argh! At least I was able to tension the other three and it isn’t leaking yet.

by:

my order left etrailer within an hour of being placed. it arrived freight free 3 days later via ups. the ac was packaged very well and arrived without any visible damage. it is compatible with original thermostat and ceiling control box from a 2003 dometic 15000 btu duo therm . had to make a minor adjustment to the partition between the air chambers.the original ceiling plate was reusable as well.

by:

Was Simi easy to install. Only time I had to slow down and carefully read instructions was wires going to the heater unit. The thermostat is very nice and the AC blows cold. Happy so far just used it this weekend

by:

Well I am very disappointed to say the least, after receiving the second RV ac unit it was also damaged. I opened it with the UPS guy watching, and was surprised to see it had a dent in it similar to the first one. It wasn't as bad but my concern for internal damage was the problem. One of the customer service women said she had a tech look at it, and the tech told her it should be OK. but a tech is far away from helping my change this unit if it has an internal problem. Unfortunately we are asking for a full refund. Very very disappointed

by:

PROs
- easy to use
- modern looks
-low
price
Cons
-delivers air only in one direction you must guess to assemble it in the roof.
-noisy
- cools after a prolonged time
-the cold air is directed through narrow openings, weird and not useful distribution,
-cannot direct the air where I need it.

by:

Joann and Emily in customer service were terrific to deal with.A/C unit was well packaged with corner braces. No damage to unit even with two corner seams were opening. Unit has well designed internal heat shields to protect A/C from sun. Unit arrived on schedule. Cannot thank E trailer and Advent enough for a great product. Priced below market. Would reccomend this company and this unit to anyone.

by:

so far so good this rv has had 10 ge ac units they keep leaking out freon 10 units in 3 years they kept replacing them but i give up on them

  • Recommended Replacement for Dometic 15K BTU Rooftop RV Air Conditioner
In order to replace a Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner I recommend using the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner, part # ACM150B for black or part # ACM150 for white. These are excellent replacement options which offer a direct fit. It comes with a two year warranty as well. Please note, if you use your generator to power the air conditioner then you'll want to consider a start capacitor like the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners part # ACMSCKIT which cuts down on power demands.

  • Are Advent Air Conditioners ACM135 or ACM150 Compatible With Dometic Duo-Therm
I reached out to the manufacturer, Advent, to try and get a specific answer for you, and they said they haven't been able to test specific Dometic compatibility in some time so would not be able to verify. What they said was you'll need to check your distribution box to see if it has the 6-pin plug like in the photo I attached. If it does then you can use either the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner - 13,500 Btu # ACM135 or 15,000 Btu # ACM150. They will then both be compatible with the thermostat...

  • Will An Advent Air RV Air Conditioner Be A Good Replacement For A Dometic Unit
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM150 has an approximate decibel level of 76, which can be a bit loud since anything over 70 is typically seen as a disturbance. If you have a ducted system closing the vent on the plenum of your air distribution box and solely using the ducts can help cut down on noise. The Advent Air # ACM150 doesn't come with a soft start, but you can purchase one separately with part # ACMSCKIT. Adding on a start capacitor can also help reduce the decibel level...
