This Comfort Ride suspension upgrade system greatly improves your towing experience. It serves as an add-on for your leaf spring suspension, and it provides a notably smoother ride, reducing chucking, axle roll-up, and suspension rebound. This means that you'll experience improved handling, even over potholes and uneven pavement. And the contents of your trailer will stay in place during travel.

Gas Shocks Absorb Road Vibration

While traditional leaf springs support your trailer to prevent bottoming out, they don't necessarily provide a comfortable ride. Due to the rigidity of the steel construction, leaf springs do a poor job of absorbing shock and bounce and limiting sway.

Roadmaster Comfort Ride shocks

Adding these shocks to your existing leaf spring suspension offers a better solution. Gas-powered springs inside of the sealed cylinders compress and extend as you drive. The compression and extension of the springs creates enough force to offset the amount of incoming force or vibration that occurs when you tow over rough or uneven terrain. The result is a more comfortable towing experience.

Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers installed

Many trailers will have shocks mounted at around a 40-degree angle, but this positioning doesn't compensate very well for the up-and-down movement of the trailer's suspension. Roadmaster's patented adjustable frame brackets are specifically designed to allow these shocks to be mounted at an optimum angle between 20 and 40 degrees. As a result, these shocks will have the leverage necessary to limit up-and-down and lateral movement during both compression and rebound.

Rigorous Testing Standards

The Comfort Ride shock absorber system has endured rigorous testing to ensure its durability and longevity. This testing includes computerized Finite Element Analysis, which establishes guidelines to ensure superior product quality and safety. Roadmaster also tested these shock absorbers at the Navistar Proving Grounds, a private test facility that provides real-world handling and safety testing. The result is a safe, long-lasting product that you can trust.

Installation

Installation of the Comfort Ride system is fairly straightforward.

The included tie plates replace your existing U-bolt tie plates. You will need to retain your existing U-bolts and nuts for installation. Once the tie plates are installed, bolt the upper mounting brackets to your trailer's frame with the included hardware. Some drilling is required when mounting the brackets to the frame. Finally, attach the shocks between the tie plates and the frame brackets.

  • Shock Kit for Travel Trailer Recommendation
Kits are not designed to fit specific trailers though based on my research we do have one kit that may work for you, depending on a few measurements you need to take. Based on my research your Lance 2280 travel trailer is a single axle so the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit # LC281255 may work as it is for single axles that are 2-3/8" in diameter, which is standard for 3,500 lb axles. So long as you have that diameter axle and a 4 inch clearance between the inside of your trailer's...

  • Will the Bolt-On Shock Kits for Trailers Work With Underslung Axles
I do have an option for you but the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit like part # LC281281 is designed for use on overslung axles (leaf springs over axle) only. Therefore, it should not be used with the underslung (leaf springs under axle) axles that you have. The reason for this is that the shock absorbers would not be long enough and there could be interference with the axle tube. Instead, I recommend using the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers part...

  • Best Suspension Enhancement For Grand Design Trailer With 3,500 lb Axles on Rough Roads
The best option for your Grand Design trailer with 3,500 lb (or 3,000 lb) axles for bumpy roads comes down to how often you are going to be on roads that are really bad. The Timbrens, like you mentioned, are overall the best option - but also the priciest. The correct part number for those are the following: - Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 2-3/8" Round Axles - 7,000 lbs # TSR7000T04 The Silent Ride really does everything, and is a complete leaf spring suspension...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement System for Keystone Bullet 220RBI with 42 Inch Axle Spread
If you want to replace your equalizer with an integrated suspension enhancement, you will need to update other components within your system for the correct fit. This will most likely require repositioning your axle hangers if you wish to use that style system. The better option for your suspension enhancement is to add shocks to your axles instead of using a cushioned equalizer. This is a much better way to assist with your suspension and will function with your current setup. I recommend...

  • What are the Trailer Suspension Parts to Upgrade the Suspension on a 2021 GD Imagine 2600 RB?
Hello Ron, I am very sorry to hear that your frame is bending, but I am happy to hear that the people at Lippert are getting you taken care of! Upgrading the suspension is always a great idea! In my search I see that the 2021 GD Imagine 2600 RB is equipped with 2.25" shackles. Looks like you already found the right shackle kit # MR46ZR. This kit is great, it will come with new shackles, wet bolts with the zerk fittings making them easy to lube, lock nuts, and even the bronze bushings....

  • Trailer Suspension Enhancement to Help With Bumpy Ride While Empty
Hey David! Trailers without a load are generally more susceptible to bounce so that is not surprising to hear. This can be really uncomfortable, especially if you're towing like that often. An upgraded equalizer will help, however, I think shocks would be a better choice in this case. Shocks work in both directions (up and down) so they will reduce that bounce and smooth out the ride. Do you know your axle capacity? If you have 3,500 lb axles you can add two of the Lippert Bolt-On Shock...

  • Which Shocks Fit Dexter Axle on Trailer
Hi Ronald; a search points to that being a 7k axle but I don't have a way to be sure without the serial number off of the axle tag. You can also measure your axle diameter which is enough to find the right kit. If you have a 3" diameter overslung axle (leaf springs on top of the axle) the # LC281281 is the correct kit. If it is a 2-3/8" overslung axle you need # LC281255 instead. If your leaf springs run under the axle the only option is the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers. These...

  • Replacement Leaf Springs, Wet Bolts, And A Comfort Ride Shock System For A 2016 Keystone Montana
Hi Jay, There unfortunately isn't a guide to tell us what leaf springs are on your trailer so you'll need to measure the length of your current springs and check the axle for its capacity. To measure you'll need to lift one side of trailer by the frame and let the axles hang. Then you'll measure from the center of one eyelet to the center of the other eyelet. That length along with the axle capacity will tell us what you need. For the wet bolts we'll also need to know the length not...

  • Recommended Suspension Upgrade for Grand Design 17MKE Travel Trailer
Since your Grand Design 17MKE has a GVWR of 6,395 lbs, you more than likely have 3,500 lb axles. That being the case, the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit # RM-2460-2560 will not fit your travel trailer. Although Roadmaster does not have a kit like this for 3,500 lb axles, I do have another option. Hey Carl welcome back! Out of those options, I would recommend going with the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers item # RM-2450. These would definitely add quite a bit of lateral stability and overall improve your towing experience. You run the risk of damaging a number of components if you blow a tire. I don't have a way of knowing which axles are on your 2021 Keystone Passport 219BH so you will have to identify them first. For both kits the leaf springs must be on top of the axle (overslung). If you have a 2-3/8" diameter axle (typically 3,500-lb capacity) you need the # LC281255 and for a 3" diameter axle (5,200-lb to 7,000-lb) # LC281281.
