Recommended SumoSprings for a 2021 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS

Question:

I have a Forest River 2021 wolf pup 16BHS. Which Sumo springs would fit? Also, what advantage would the Roadmaster add on shocks offer over the springs?

Hey Linda. There's two options for SumoSprings that work with your 2021 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS. Which one you need is going to depend on how your axle is mounted to your springs.

If your axle is mounted above your leaf springs, you'll need the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs w/ Line Relocation Bracket - item # TSS-106-40.

If your axle is mounted below your leaf springs, you'll need the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs w/ Line Relocation Bracket - item # TSS-107-40.

The SumoSprings are shock absorbers that take the brunt of bumps and bouncing on rough roads, and offer 500 lbs of support when 50% compressed to prolong the life of your leaf springs and suspension components. These are maintenance free but do have some restrictions. The item # TSS-106-40 will only fit trailers with 3-leaf leaf springs and requires 6" - 8-5/8" between the top of the spring plate and the bottom of trailer frame. The item # TSS-107-40 will not work with spring plates wider than 4-1/4" and require 5-5/16" - 6-1/2" between the top of the spring plate and the bottom of trailer frame.

If you have a 2-3/8" diameter axle you can install the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers item # RM-2450. These are heavy-duty nitrogen filled shock absorbers that prevent a trailer from bouncing on rough roads. The mounting brackets are almost vertical so they do a great job of limiting up and down movement of the trailer to keep the contents of your trailer from moving around. They're better than SumoSprings and have less restrictions.
