The Roadmaster Spare Tire Mount saves you from crawling under your Sprinter based chassis to retrieve the dirty, rusting spare wheel & tire. From experience I found you could not remove the spare wheel from the rickety carrier mounted to the chassis just by undoing the securing bolts. FYI, a spare wheel/tire is heavy!! Get a Roadmaster Spare Tire Mount!

Hang em High. Instalation time about 30 minutes with the help of my son 1 hour 30 minutes. He doesn't need to read instructions. He so smart. Well any way there is a bolt that bolts to the receiver note bolt to. It wouldn't fit so son decided to hammer it in. Guess what round peg square hold. Then son discovered it screws in and he has screw it up. After re thread bolt works great. Lesson don't let 52 year old son install with out reading instructions. This weekend I will mount the tire.

At first I didnt like it sticking so far out front but it grows on you. The ease of lifting the tire is a plus. Worth the expense. As I do not have underneath storage or rear bumper space. Still would like a better style or design fo attachment of tire to lift. Im still looking for a welder to welder Mt reciver to my grill. Overall it works as I expected it to.

by:

It’s very sturdy and well built. Installation was easy. I cannot open the door on my RAM pro master with this installed. My back up sensors constantly alarm with this installed. My wheel is a bit too deep to install, so I will have to modify and/or buy other parts to safely use. I would not have purchased this if I had known all of these issues.

by:

I changed the rear gas tank from 16 gallons to one that is 38 gallons for long distance off road travel. There no longer was room for the spare tire. Vehicle is 1985 F-250 4x4 hi-Boy 8600# GVW. This spare tire carrier also allows me to tow my other vehicles or trailer. Some Devcon keeps the wheel studs in place much better. I use an anti-rattle clip on the receiver to keep the noise and rattle down. The handle extension helps to lower and raise the tire to either side. No problems off road. I can still open the shell rear door. Only reason I docked a point was no license plate holder to relocate my plate. I drilled the stud bolts for small padlocks. This with a mounted tire made trial fitting of tire chains easy because all states (but one, probably Hawaii) mandate carrying tire chains in the winter even if a 4x4 with snow tires. Tire weight is 55# plus that of a steel wheel and no problem with the weight. BTW, tire cover not shown but I use one that is personalized for my VFW Post.

If you need a license plate relocator I would suggest item # LPL55CB as it has a heavy duty plastic housing so you do not have to worry about rust.

by:

Very happy with the RoadMaster spare tire carrier #195125 I installed on our 2017 mb sprinter 2500. This is a heavy duty unit that looks great and works as advertised. With the exception of installing the two nylon washers between the shaft and main hitch it was easy to install and easy to operate.

Brilliant. It was a great option for this sprinter van.

by:

Product is very well built. Obviously a quality unit. Intstalling it on the RV tomorrow morning. E-Trailer is great to work with. Shipping is quick and they keep you notified along the way!

by:

Exactly what I needed. Now I don’t have to carry the spare in the back of my Jeep Wrangler toad!

etrailercom customer service is beyond superb.
My order was missing the “lowering” lever.
They immediately addressed the issue.
Answered all questions prior to ordering.

They aren’t the cheapest, but I can sleep nights.
Can’t Beat their Customer Service!!!

Luckly, havent had a flat tire to use the spare! The product has held up well...no problems. Just remember to lockdown the spare and remove the lowering lever when in storage...it will be stolen if you dont!!!

by:

just what I need for my camper and the size spare I have (17 inch wheel)

by:

This is truely an exceptional product. Its robustness and convenient features are exceptional. I had a 40lb toolbox mounted on top of my spare tire, as well as a 2.5 gallon gas can on top of the toolbox. The unit held up flawlessly, even with the burden of the extra weight, even on REALLY bad roads I encountered traveling through Canada and Alaska...all the way to the Artic Circle; a round trip of 20,000 miles in 6-months. While the size/offset on my wheel was was too deep to mount it directly to the the anchor flange, the use of longer bolts with about 10 washers apiece held securely to the mount plate with jam nuts worked beautifully. AsA retired mechanical engineer, I highly recommend this Roadmaster spare tire carrier.

by:

I bought this spare tire carrier for my Mercedes Sprinter camper van for 3 reasons; 1. To free up significant storage space inside my camper by moving the spare tire outside, 2. To be able to easily swivel my spare tire out of the way to access the storage area at the back of my van, and 3. To be able to use my bike rack to carry 2 electric bikes. Perfect solution for me!

by:

I recently retired from a career as a millwright/welder/machine builder, and I have to tell you, etrailers design and quality of their spare tire carrier exceeded my expectations. One thing I did was design and build a portable storage cart to facilitate easy installation and removal from my hitch. I had spent a couple of weeks designing a spare tire carrier that I planned to build myself prior to discovering etrailer's model. I quickly abandoned my plans upon the discovery. No sorry I did. Great product reasonably priced.

by:

Only problem with the carrier is that I installed it on my Ram Promaster 3500 Van. You will need a 12”extension to push the carrier out so the back door will open.

by:

I’ve been trying for over a year to find a spare tire carrier that can hold a giant wheel and tire without costing a fortune. Somehow I found this one made for RV’s and it’s perfect! It fits my wheel and tire perfectly and looks good on my Excursion. I can still open the back glass when the tire is up and I can open both barn doors when the tire is down to the side. This carrier is very well made and easy to put together. It also allows me to throw a bike rack or small trailer behind it if I need to. I’m so glad that I got this and can have the interior space back that my spare tire was taking up.
For reference my wheel is a Pro Comp 18x9 with a 35x12.50 BFG All-Terrain tire mounted on it. It’s a big heavy spare and this carrier has no issue with it. It’s so easy to swing up and down too. I 100% recommend this!

Came in on time and as described

It performed exactly as video indicated. I had no problems getting it attached and the tire was easy to mount. I am quite satisfied with this item.

by:

Works great on my 05 Excursion. Carrying a 35 inch tire on an 18 inch wheel. Ended up using slightly different hardware.... 1/2 x 20 lugnuts and bolts to secure it. Also put a regular bolt in place of the hand tightened safety bolt in order to torque it down and stabilize it better. Product is very well made and is probably the best approach to carrying an oversized spare, especially when an aftermarket bumper with a spare attachment is generally well over $2k. There is also room to lift the back glass as well as tow my utility trailer.... probably won't be able to tow the camper though without an extension. Using a torklift 20k dual receiver hitch

by:

Would have been nice to have a second mounting hole on the receiver portion.

by:

Received the spare tire carrier and seems to be exactly what I needed. Built very solid did not receive the handle that went with it but called and received one within four days no issues great service

I have had the spare tire mount for a year now has held up great. I have it for my class c motorhome I installed a front hitch from etrailer and mounted my spare on front of motorhome works great

by:

This spare tire carrier provided a solution that not only made it possible to carry a spare but made handling the tire easier.

by:

This spare tire carrier fits great on my 2020 Winnebago Travato!
Easy installation, and I feel so much safer knowing I’ve got a spare tire onboard!

by:

I love the product, my only complaint is I had to purchase a drop down extender in order to be able to open my van doors when carrier is installed, ths extension reduces my hitch capacity.

by:

The product is great...it's designed for a van, I believe, so in saying this the it should stick out of the reciever a little further. Once installed I could only open the back doors far enough to stick.my arm in. I have a 6" reciever extension that I used which allowed me to open the back doors. Once the tire was in place i was only able to open the doors enough for me to squeeze through. Thus is no big deal though if you swing the tire down to one side or the other. Then the doors open fully.
For a long trip this is still piece of mind knowing I can fix a flat on the road and not stranded.... especially in areas of no cell service. No complaints from me.

  • Will Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier Work With Motorhome and Bike Rack
The Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 only has about 8 inches from the hitch pin hole to the back of the carrier and my understanding of Fiamma racks for motorhomes are that they are designed to sit pretty low when mounted on rails of motorhomes. What you can do is use this spare tire carrier as a receiver for a bike rack, but you would need one that is rated for use on the back of a motorhome such as the Swagman Titan 2-Bike Rack # S63400.
