Will the Rear Hatch Fully Open on a 2017 Audi Q7 w/ the Roadmaster Spare Tire Mount Installed?

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 12/31/2024

Question:

2021 Audi Q7: im curious if this will work well for a hitch-mount spare tire on my Q7. Does it pivot far enough to not interfere with the rear hatch? Because in an ideal world, i would want a tire mount that would move far enough to be out of the way of the rear hatch without having to remove the tire mount completely. Thanks.

Hey Tim! I don't have that specific of information but I can give you some measurements that will help you figure it out.

To determine if you'll have clearance, you'll need to do some measurements. It looks like there's a couple stock tire sizes for the 2021 Audi Q7 so I am going to go off of the largest one, 285/40R21, would have a diameter of right at 30". 12-3/4" is going to be the closet distance of the spare tire mount item # RM-195125 to your rear hitch pin hole.

If you measure 30" above the ground and 12-3/4" away from your Audi's rear hitch pin hole, you'll be able to tell if the rear hatch will open with the Roadmaster Spare Tire Mount item # RM-195125.

Hey Tim, did those measurements help you figure out if the Roadmaster spare tire mount clears your Q7’s rear hatch? Knowing how it worked out could help others trying to fit a hitch-mount spare on similar SUVs.
